Where roof paint is tested hardest
A roof is not one flat surface. A few lines and junctions take the harshest weather and the most movement, and a repaint that glosses over them tends to fail there first.
Fixings and overlaps
Screw heads, nail heads and sheet or tile laps hold dirt and moisture. Rust spots and loose fixings are dealt with first so they do not bleed through the topcoat.
Valleys and flashings
Water funnels through valleys and around chimneys and skylights. Paint cannot seal a lifted flashing, so repairs come before colour.
Edges and the gutter line
Where the roof meets fascia and gutters, drips and runoff mark the work. Masking and a steady hand matter more here than anywhere else.

Painting sequence
From first wash to final coat
A repaint runs in a set order because each stage depends on the one before. Ask for your quote to lay it out the same way.

Wash and rinse
Dirt, chalky residue and loose paint come off using a method suited to the roof material. Runoff is directed away from gardens and drains where possible.

Inspect once it is clean
A clean roof shows what the dirt was hiding. Minor defects are fixed or flagged, and anything bigger moves the job toward restoration.

Prime the bare and treated spots
Bare or treated spots get a primer chosen for that surface, so the topcoat has something dependable to grip.

Apply the topcoat
A compatible topcoat goes on in even passes across the full run, with edges and laps given the same care as the open areas.

Unmask and record
Masking comes off, edges are checked from the ground, and the products and colour used are written down for your records.
